The one holding on to the raft. I'd been under water for about 30 seconds immediately before the shot. The Rock is Fowlers Rock on the South Fork of the American at 8000cfs. On a normal summer run the rock is about 8 to 10ft out of the water and the flow about 1600cfs.
Pretty good. I'm actually working a lot less in July so that means more kayaking! I want to get ready for the springtime when all the snow melt is happening. Woohoo!

Hey Geoff - so I was a bit slow in finding/participating in your site, I must give you KUDOS for this. Looks great and lots of good info. Now, off to the water...
Thank you for your comments and questions. I call it the PaddlePac. You can go to paddlepac.com to see more of the prototype, I plan on having a retail model ready for the summer. One important aspect is the ability to disassemble and fit in a storage bag. The raised arms allow the kayak to turn under the unit unobstructed and the only problem I had was going against a strong current. The unit will be aluminum frame, wood deck and pvc pontoons.
Thank you again. Later, Rob K.
Hey Geoff, great to hear from you. I'm still trekking out to SFO each week, and try to make it up to SAC at least once a month for a SFA run. My idea of a fun winter weekend is to run the CG on Sat and Gorge on Sunday :-) I'll drop you a line next time I'm up, I'd love to meet Kim!
Thanks Geoff, you and Jason are a big help to us all! It’s tough to make good decisions on purchases when you live in the middle of nowhere and there aren’t any outfitters around to help you with the barrage of choices. It's two vests for me!
Thanks Geoff, I too, was concerned about a snag hazard from the mesh back. To bad they didn't take that into consideration in the design. I'll keep my regular vest for ww and try on a few with a mesh back to see if I want to deal with the extra bulk. The only other vest I've seen that’s peaked my interest was a SeaO by Kokatat, it comes with CO2 Cartridge for extra floatation when needed. Have you ever seen this vest?
