I picked up my new T-160 this morning. She's a beauty - slender, graceful, and looks like a fish-catching machine. I'm getting her all rigged before I take a pic, but I hope to have her out by Wednesday.
John - you're going to love this boat. I'll let you try it next time we fish. Also, I sent you an email earlier.
Jason - kinda thinking of the Geotubes or the flats behind SLP on the Galvetraz side, but not sure. I'm still trying to get through finals, but I'll give you a call Tues evening. I am also free until June 8.
let me know where u r heading out to wed. congrats on the new boat. i am done teaching until June 8th. so more days to fish i hope and wednesday is the first one.
SDY - yeah, that new boat smell is something, isn't it?
Jim - I am adding an anchor trolley, one Scotty rod holder for now and maybe two more later, and maybe a Scotty mount for a light mast (still thinking about that one). The center hatch is larger in the T-160, so I need to find some way to affix a waterproof container in there. The old coffee can will just slide around in the hull now so I can't use it. I have a nice otterbox, just need to attach it somehow - maybe velcro. My rigging will be pretty simple. I don't have the need for electronics such as GPS or fishfinders or anything real complicated. The added complexity partially defeats the purpose of kayak fishing in my opinion and getting lost is part of the adventure.
I am also working on where I will load everything so that it's convenient. I've had the T-140 for a couple of years now and gotten used to where everything goes, so now I have to start over.
