New Kayakers

My two sons, 8 and 10, and I went whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Upper New River this past week and fell in love w/ it. Any suggestions on the types of kayaks we should buy for running the New River and rivers and lakes in Kentucky? And, and suggestions on stores we should look at either online or brick and mortar? We live in Louisville, KY. Thanks.
