Last chance for Kayaking this Summer!

Well, Weather forecasters surprisingly got it right for the weekend, so Today (Saturday) we ventured back to Oulton Broad as this is possibly the last chance we'll get for some Summer Kayaking.

Saturday started very sunny but rather chilly, but we loaded up the kayaks and by 10:00am we were on the Broads.

All was pleasantly calm and the broads looked like one massive 'Mill Pond' hardly a ripple in sight.

We paddled around the park area and… Continue

Oulton Broad again - 16-8-08

Weather forecasters here are getting it wrong yet again, today they forecast light showers etc, what did we get...well a perfect day yet again for some kayaking.

So we hurried getting all our gear together and got the kayaks on the Galaxy and we set off.

This time we ventured up out of Oulton Broad and progressed up the River Waveney about 1½ miles before turning round and paddling against the river.

Not a bad this venture considering this really only is our… Continue

Modifying the Roof Bars for some Paddle Clips.

Well, while we haven't got any rain and its reasonably dry, i thought i'd quickly put the Paddle Clips to good use.

Nice easy mod for transporting your paddles on your roof bars.

They very secure and wont come off and nor will ya Paddles!

What do ya think?

Our first outing on the Mysto

Well we couldn’t wait to get down to Oulton Broad to try the Mysto’s.

We loaded them up on the Galaxy “Double Stacked” as we thought we would have to take the Frenzy down for a friend, but as he couldn’t make it we left them as it was.

And we wasn’t disappointed either, although you sit slightly higher up than the Frenzy it doesn’t take that long to know how far you can push the Mysto.

It’s very stable, great at tracking, very fast and can turn… Continue

Let's attack the Mysto

Well, they arrived at 17:30 on Friday and as with most British Summers it rained!

The weather has really been lousy yet again, so we didn't do much until Sunday morning where it was absolutely peeing it down, but within an hour it had blown over to a glorious blue sky!

So out we go to modify the Mysto's to incorporate the Hatch Kits.

Not too difficult, just have to make sure you mark and check twice and cut once!

Oh dear! I live down south - in the 'burbs! You bought a couple of kayaks?! Wow! They're not cheap! I guess if you've got the bug and you know that you're going to do it for a long time then it's not so bad, but that's quite a thing to do...Good on you! I look forward to seeing the pics!

I've been told to find you - from Geoff Jennings! I've just started Kayaking after having an amazing time just kicking it in Barbados. I seem to really enjoy it but don't know where to go from here... Also not really enjoying the prospect of cold UK water! Any tips for a novice?
