"Canyons of the Rio Grande. Middle canyons early November, lower canyons late November. It's a canoe run with lots of lines and portages unless you get lucky enough to have water for rafts. You down in Auburn area? I'm up in Chico."

Hi Harry, Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. The only good kayaking stretch is below Piute Reservoir Dam. Generally people put in just below Rock Candy Mountain (service station/store) due to private property issues. The run is a busy 2.5 hours and the takeout is at Big Bend which is owned by an outfitter. They’ll allow private use providing you don’t park a vehicle blocking their river access. The Sevier is fully controlled by the dam works and flows will be dependent on irrigation needs downstream. There's not much for pull-outs so plan accordingly.
Here's a link: http://www.sevierriver.org/central/

If you want to know more drop me another line. Lynne
