Most of the info here is from the British Canoe Union for which you need a license to paddle over 4,500km's of Britains great waterways.
If you don't and get caught you could be fined upto £1,000.
The remaining info and booklets is from sources on the internet which I have found and sent for.

Hi Geoff,
I just visited the main BCU site, you can either fill in the Application or phone the membership through.
It cost myself and Konnor around £40 / year.
No skill level is required as far as I'm aware, think its more to do with having a License to access the waterways, much the same as a car license for the Roads.

Just curious, how much is the BCU license? How hard is it to get? Do you need to demonstrate a skill level?
