Hi all, just joined up and wanted to say hi. What a great site.

I use my sit on top all the time, I have 2 perception freedoms (13 foot) one for me and the missis, we often go overnight camping with friends on the kayaks.

I lost a leg in a road accident a few years ago but using a prosthetic and a sit on top kayak I can go anywhere I like (as long as theirs water!)

I have been kayaking now for about 4 years and have started to venture out into the big blue sea, am finding a love for exploring the cost that is hard to beat. So if your ever in Cornwall England and fancy a trip out, or if your local to the area and have any useful advise for a keen to learn kayaker the please get in touch.

DON'T rely on GPS units - take a real paper map and a compass along.
Many new GPS units swallow batteries 16hr max, touch screen, color use lots of power.
A simple Garmin GPS60 will run almost 24 hr continual on.
-Take an orienteering course on land first.

Can anyone recommend a good hand-help GPS unit? Preferably water-proof.
Thanks for the help!

Does anyone ever take there sea kayaks and paddle up rivers? I just got off the american river tonight and found some great surf waves for a sea kayak. If you don't i recommend trying it. Then watch your skills grow....Fast!

In July 2008 I completed the 1,250 mile Inside Passage from San Juan Island Washington to Skagway Alaska. I have put together a web site with 1,000's of photos and a day to day summary of the trip for other kayakers to enjoy. Check it out at http://denisdwyer.blogspot.com/
