Smith and Bybee Lakes in Portland, OR

These are natural wetland areas on the peninsula between the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. You don't know it when you are on the water but the are smack dab in the middle of our industrial lands.

My wife and I spent Monday morning paddling the San Marco's River.  If you have ever been there, you will know how clear and cool the water is.  The river originates on the Campus of Texas State University and flows South East for about 75 miles into the Guadelupe River.  We only paddled a mile or so back and forth through San Marcos.  The water was calm and super clear.  We saw ducks, egrets, and turtles (under the water).

We are new to Kayaking.  I just bought my wife a Old Town Vapor and I have a Field and Stream Eagle Run.  I like both, very stable and can handle a few waves.

I was going to paddle in Northeast Kingdom, VT today but a sudden thunderstorm has postponed my plans. My kayak is atop my car and filling with water. The cockpit cover I ordered hasn't arrived yet.
