Hi all....I came here to see if I could find a picture of the Original Tee shirts i printed(back in the mid 90's)for Smith and Bybee Lakes grand opening to the public!  4 color process of a blue Heron standing in the marsh with the Bridge in the back ground. DARN! I wish I wopuld have kept that tee! I did them in my livingroom and was very proud of them as it was a technically hard to print tee. If anybody has one(???) please put a pic of it up?  I Live in Portland and LOVE to paddle all around here. I started paddling on Earth Day 2002(ironically...years AFTER I printed Smith&Bybee tees!). S&B has gone through some big changes. I SO MUCH more liked it before they closed off the nice marsh with all the turtles that was such an intimate mood set for the transition to bybee and then to smith. I just cannot get over the change that closing that part off has made. SO even though I still go...I do not go nearly as often as i used to. I have a pic of my (then)4 year old in the kayak at the (used to be)put in. He is 13 now and I hoped to get a current pic of him as he grew in that same spot and it cannot happen. Did not see that coming. Some of our best shots(on my other computer...I will get some up)are from the area they closed off to paddlers.  Paddled S&B under a full moon...and as the sun comes up.  This place is NEVER crowded which amazes me at times. Since it is so accessible. S&B will always be a nice paddle...but it used to be special...till they closed off the part where our best memories of it are.

Columbia River; Willamette etc...kayaking is so great!  kayak CAMPING is even better! I paddle all times of the year...if the water is not frozen (and sometimes even when part of it is)...I still go. EVERY time of year is enjoyable in it's own way.  I really relax and enjoy my paddles...you never know when some place you really like may go away. My other sports involve speed...and I enjoy a good 'fast' long paddle...but it is the slowing down and atmosphere of the water/motion/wildlife/plants/sky...that makes it  so renewing.  If I was a doctor and I had stressed patients...the first thing I would prescribe is a kayak! If you kayak...I get you....and we are already friends!

We have many lakes around here over 100 near here. Okanagan Lake doesn't freeze, at least since the early 19hundreds Okanagan canbe paddled year round. That is the lake on the North end of town. Skaha Lake on the South end of town is a fair size lake and I've only seen it freeze about 1/4 way in once when it hit record -40c. Okanagan Lake is about 2 blocks from me so thats my most paddled lake. Some say only the crazy people paddle that lake in the winter. LOL I guess I am classed as one of the "crazy" people. if it was 78f here I'd be paddling in a heartbeat! If you ever come to the Okanagan Valley BC get ahild of me and we'll paddle!

Two extreme differences in weather. 78 F out here yesterday. Actually ran the AC in the truck driving around yesterday. No kayaking but did do some local hiking. Actually warmer than the norm but not that rare for Arizona.

Wasnt too bad today was awesome though +5c and the temp hit +12c by afternoon around 3pm. This is Okanagan Lake in Penticton BC Canada where I am. Had a great paddle today! =) almost all the snow is gone too!
