I have used and rented out the Carolina. It is a good stable boat. Sold too. But no skag. You may also want to try the wilderness tsunami.
The Carolina would be good for flat water. I don't know if your paddleing large lakes or big bodies of water, I.e. lake michigan ...

The main reason I'm looking at this boat is because of the larger than normal cockpit opening on a boat of this size. But I will mainly be doing very congested rivers, a couple small lakes, and anything within 20 miles when the wife starts yelling.
